『いぬとハエと日本語教師』

情報を過多に積み重ね、視点を幾重にも交錯させることで、異なるメディアが混ざり合う空間に「時」を沈殿させる――。

韓成南は自身が生み出した「スーパーリニア」の概念を軸に、映像であり、演劇であり、ダンスでもあるような、タイムベースドな作品を発表してきました。2025年9月に兵庫で初演され、好評を博した本作が、2026年7月、新たな構成へとアップデートし、東京で上演されます。

1983年の「留学生10万人計画」、それに続く「留学生30万人計画」、そして少子高齢化による深刻な人手不足を背景に「特定技能」や「育成就労制度」といった事実上の移民政策が推し進められる現代日本。皇民化政策という歴史を補完しながら、「辺境の言語」とも言える日本語を日本語教師が「教える」という行為から考察します。 ドローンやカメラの視線の介入といったメディア性に対し、人の声に近いとされるヴィオラの生演奏や踊る身体が交錯するなかで「意味」と「指示」のあいだに生じる差分を探る思考実験を行います。

プロフィール
韓成南
兵庫県神戸市生まれ。映像作家、演出家。
Interdisciplinary Art Festival Tokyo、Art in Country of Tokyo、Interdisciplinary Art Project Kobeの代表、海の中の美術館初代館長。 シングルチャンネル映像やブルーバックによるキーイングを用いた映像インスタレーション、AR写真・映像作品、アートパフォーマンス、そして「青」をテーマにしたインスタレーション作品などを制作している。また、「スーパーリニア」という概念をもとに制作した映像×演劇×ダンスのアートパフォーマンスを上演している。韓国やフランスの映画祭で審査員やプログラマーを務めた。

“The Dog, the Fly & the Japanese Language Teacher”

Layering a plethora of information and intertwining multiple perspectives to sediment “time” within a space where disparate media commingle—.

Centering her practice on the self-conceived concept of “Superlinear,” Sung Nam HAN has consistently presented time-based works that exist simultaneously as moving image, theater, and dance. First premiered in Hyogo in September 2025 to a warm and highly positive reception, the work will be staged in July 2026, updated with a completely new structure.

Modern Japan—a nation driving de facto immigration policies through frameworks like the “Specified Skilled Worker” status and the “Employment Training Program,” against the historical backdrop of the 1983 “100,000 Foreign Students Plan,” the subsequent “300,000 Foreign Students Plan,” and a severe labor shortage driven by a declining birthrate and aging population. Complementing this with the historical context of the Kominka policy (imperialization), the work examines Japanese—a “peripheral language”—through the active lens of a Japanese language teacher “teaching” the language. Amidst the intertwining between the mediatization of intervening gazes from drones and cameras, and the presence of live viola performance—said to closely resemble the human voice—and dancing bodies, this project functions as a highly visual thought experiment probing the discrepancies that arise between “meaning” and “designation.”

Profile
Sung Nam HAN
Sung Nam HAN is a filmmaker and director born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, whose practice spans film, installation, and performance. She is the founder and director of Interdisciplinary Art Festival Tokyo, Art in Country of Tokyo, and Interdisciplinary Art Project Kobe, and serves as the inaugural director of Japan Undersea Art Museum. Her body of work encompasses single-channel films, video installations employing blue-screen keying, AR-based photography and video, immersive art performances, and installation works exploring the theme of “blue.” Drawing on her original concept of “Superlinear,” she creates hybrid performances that weave together film, theater, and dance. She has also contributed to the international art and film community as a juror and programmer at film festivals in South Korea and France.
